Zar Ni Tun is a seventeen-year-old boy who was born and grew up in Hlaing Thar Yar, one of the biggest slum areas in Yangon, Myanmar. His family includes four people: his parents, his older brother, and himself. His father is unwell, his older brother is married and lives away from their family, and the mother is the family breadwinner and sells food in their neighborhood.

Before our child protection team discovered him, the child was performing general labor on a construction site. The child protection team then met with his family to discuss the child’s best interests because he is under the age of 18, works long hours on a construction site, and is at risk for harm.

The child and his family are under good care of the coordination work of the child protection team and the child sponsorship team after we provided the small grocery shop business for their regular and decent income and also the vocational training for the child. Zar Ni Tun attended school until Grade 6, and we provided him the basic and advance mobile phone service course (software and hardware) which he completed and now he is excited to get a job as a junior, collect some experience, and he even have a dream to start his own phone repair business one day. He and his family are grateful for all the support and mainly for the opportunity that SANNI Foundation has given to their family and to the child.
