Thiha Zaw is a five-year-old boy who lives with his family in Shwe Phyi Thar, one of the largest slum areas in Yangon, Myanmar. He is disabled due to tuberculosis in the brain, having difficulty seeing and walking as well as an ear discharge. His current state is bedridden, and therefore he has no other interactions with people apart from his medical needs.

His father is also diagnosed with tuberculosis and is also taking medication. His older brother is the breadwinner of the family, and he is working as a bricklayer as his parents need to constantly monitor and watch Thiha Zaw’s condition.

The SANNI Foundation has supported the family with the small breakfast food shop as the small business invests in the child program so that the parents can also generate some income by staying home and taking care of Thiha Zaw at the same time.
