Thousands of children and adults in Myanmar suffer from tuberculosis without access to treatment and is a high cause of mortality. It is spread easily in the confined conditions of slum environments where access to health care is extremely low.
SANNI’s Lotus clinic, based in the centre of a slum area, freely treats tuberculosis with our specialist team. The clinic starts and monitors the specific medication and supports the patients and their families with food packages as treatment often prevents people working during the first stages.
In 2018, 750 patients were tested for tuberculosis. Every 5th was infected.
