The Motherhouse orphanage was built in 2016 by SANNI Foundation to provide a loving and safe home for vulnerable children and orphans living in one of the largest slum areas in Yangon, Myanmar. It is a secure and happy space to grow up healthy and educated. Two full time ‘mothers’ live at the Motherhouse to provide 24/7 care and love to the children and a specialized trained team of Myanmar social workers manage the building to ensure each child’s wellbeing.
The Motherhouse has intentionally been kept small so the children have a home and family environment. Our approach is that each child is a unique individual with special requirements which we always support.
The Motherhouse provides the children everything they need, from food and clean clothes, to education and training to help guide them into an independent adulthood. Extra curricula activities are regularly planned like sports and music lessons, fun day trips and arts and crafts. We strongly believe a diverse childhood experience is vital for a healthy and active mind.
Today, Motherhouse takes care of 13 orphans. In future, we would like to open this safe and promising environment to more orphans in order to open a positive future!
