Emergency Call from Myanmar – Our Help After the Earthquake
Dear Friends and Supporters of the SANNI Foundation,
On March 28, Myanmar was struck by a devastating earthquake measuring 7.7 on the Richter scale, with the epicenter near the city of Mandalay. Thousands of lives were lost, countless people were injured, and there is a severe lack of clean water, medical care, food, and shelter. Thanks to your swift and generous support, we have already raised CHF/EUR 170,000 and transferred CHF/EUR 200,000 directly to support emergency relief efforts on the ground.
Our aid is fast, direct, and reaches exactly where it is most urgently needed.
Together with a 45-member team – including 11 doctors – we are providing emergency relief in the hardest-hit areas, offering:
- Emergency medical care and surgical referrals
- Pain and trauma therapy
- Distribution of clean drinking water, food, hygiene items, and clothing
- Psychosocial support
- Construction of toilets and emergency shelters
Our teams are currently working in Mandalay, Sagaing, south of Mandalay, and around Inle Lake in the Shan region. I am currently on the ground in Yangon, visiting our clinic and Motherhouse, and coordinating the next steps with our local partners.
Even after the initial shock, the people of Myanmar urgently need continued support. Food, shelter, and medical care remain scarce – and we will stay as long as help is needed.
Thank you for enabling us to act so quickly and effectively. Your solidarity saves lives. Please continue to support us with your donation (please include the reference “Earthquake”). Every contribution counts.
With heartfelt thanks,
Yours, Susanne Schroff
