Strong partnerships, big impact

 In News, Newsletter

Dear friends of the SANNI Foundation

What motivates us? The vision of a better world, the conviction that every bit of help counts and the passion to bring about long-term positive change. These ideas guide us in our work and are the driving force behind every project we support in India and Myanmar. It is a pleasure to share our experiences with you and to show you what your support makes possible.

In this issue of the newsletter, we would like to tell you about my nephew, Maximilian Schroff, who has been on the Board of Trustees of the SANNI Foundation since 2021 and visited India again in June 2024 to see our ongoing projects and meet our new local project partners.

Yours sincerely,
Susanne Schroff

Maximilian, why did you decide to visit India again?

Back in 2015, I had the opportunity to visit St. John’s in Kerala and was deeply impressed by the work being done there. Since then, my enthusiasm for our projects and the direct contact with the local people has stayed with me. This year, I not only wanted to see the progress in Kerala, but also get to know our new project partners in Delhi personally.

What impressed you most during your visit?

The incredible dedication and passion with which the local teams work is impressive. The visit to our partner, Humana People to People India in Delhi, was particularly moving. There I saw how our support directly benefits the women and girls in the slums. It was inspiring to see how young women gain self-confidence through education and targeted support and are given a real chance of a better future.

Is there a special experience you would like to share?

One of the most impressive experiences was my visit to a slum in Delhi. The conditions there are hard to imagine, but I was deeply moved by the people’s hope and will to live. I was particularly touched by the conversation with a young woman who grew up in a slum herself, was supported by an aid organization and has now risen to a managerial position at Humana in order to help others. Her story shows how transformative support from organizations like the SANNI Foundation can be.

What are the next steps for the SANNI Foundation in India?

We will continue to support our projects in Kerala and Delhi, with a particular focus on education and the empowerment of women. In our latest project in the slums of Delhi, we also attach great importance to the education of children. Our program sends 150 children to school and supports their families. We also focus on the mothers, who are empowered through sewing and cosmetics courses to generate their own income and thus lead a self-determined life. We want to tackle hygiene and clean-up work in the slums, which is currently still a problem. With clean-up campaigns and education of the children, we will be able to make a difference step by step.

Don’t want to make a long-term commitment, but want to provide important help in the current emergency?
